FAT were introduced to the project at the construction stage to develop the design for cladding to lift shafts.
The thermal performance of the Richard Rogers signature external lifts was overlooked at the concept design stage. The shaft reinforced concrete walls created thermal bridge and required insulation. FAT were employed to develop the rain screen cladding to the internal walls of the lift shaft to be visually as close as possible to the original intention of exposed RC frame.
We have worked closely with the lift, fit-out and cladding contractors to conceive most elegant solutions of covering the insulation and the lift and external curtain wall bracketry. Lightweight steel frame was developed to support the lift door. Fibrocement panels were laid out in the most economical manner to achieve low wastage requirement.
